Most people think of Canada as Winter, cold temperatures and lots of snow. But there are plenty of berries for sale here! Blackberries, Raspberries, Strawberries, Blueberries, whatever the heart desires.
We especially enjoy the blueberries in our cereal or with sour cream. Not only berries, no Cherries, Apricots, and Peaches grow in BC, and are very often sold at stands along the road. Ed is from the Okanagan, the warmest area in BC, and sells fruit in Quesnel.
I am buying apricots today, they are – like everything in Canada– just a bit bigger than in Europe, but taste very good.
Quick grocery shopping – not without small talk
Ed is asking me where we were from, and answers in German (he’s got relatives inGermany) and we get talking. It is typical for most Canadians to ask where one is from and going; something that we are not used to.
Ed notices that Frank sits a bit impatiently in the RV, ready to go. So I grab the apricots, and say good-bye.
